Some of you have posted that you can't use Gizmocall, Voipcheap, icall from certain countries or there are some issues using it on your PC, so I finally decided to find a service which will offer free calls anywhere in the world. I finally stumbled across this great VOIP provider called Jaxtr.
Jaxtrprovides a very unique and great VOIP service to call people all over the world. However some countries are fully not supported yet, such as mine. Singapore is not yet fully supported. I could add numbers to my account and possibly people can call me but i can't make calls out. Very surprising and i am going to take it up with Jaxtr guys.
Lets get back to discussing this cool VOIP gadget. Jaxtr is a pretty unique service i must say. Hardly anyone today offers free calls to India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Morocco. You name it they support that country. However, I would be happy if someone can confirm if they can actually use this service in India. I myself can't confirm this being in singapore. I find that amazing enough coz many other VOIP services are struggling to offer such service.
Lets see how you can use Jaxtr to make free calls worldwide.
1) You need to create an account for atleast one party. This number should be a receiving party number. So for e.g You are in USA and want to call India. First create an account for a Indian number. Register at Jaxtr with your unique ID and then add number
2) After adding the number, Jaxtr will give you a verification number such as "25" etc and will call your phone which you just added. You need to verify your phone with the number provided and Jaxtr will activate your number.
3) Now you can visit the Profile link provided such as http://www.jaxtr.com/voipguide and click on call for free. Jaxtr will ask for your phone number. Just add the number, then Jaxtr will call you first and then it will connect the receiving party. Do remember to save the number Jaxtr gives you when you first call.
Hope you find this pictorial helpful in making a free international call with Jaxtr. Let me know if you are able to call from your country and if there are any specific errors. I can then talk it up with the Jaxtr guys to be included in future release.

hi...i was able to use indian number to call from usa .... the problem is that they provide only 100 jaxtr / month that come to only 16 min / month to usa from india. there is no way we can buy more jaxtr. so it is problematic. if jaxtr keep thier charge 3 cent/min then everybody will happy to use it.

It's not very clear but i thought its 100 mins incoming on your Jaxtr number.
They said local charges apply when you try to call the same party again. It was supposed to be a local number which you can call when re-dialing and then it automatically connects.
everyone who has a us virtual phone number can use this service at least to receive sms from everyone and voicemail and callings from freezone people.it is very useful to hide your personal info.

chinmaya, you should be able to add the numbers. Try again. What is the exact error you are getting?
If its a STD number, you need to add the STD code under Area code field.

could call to india, seems no prob with limitation of time like 16min / mo or some shit like that, yestarday I talked for three hours to india. today am planning for another 5hr or so if not more. but the quality is not so great it disconnects often. but one thing IS IT FREE ? am I not putting my silly foot into some corporate a** fu** ? and will I get a HUGE bill at the end of the month ? who cares I will just skip the bill , cheers
Great to hear that you are able to make calls upto 3 hrs. Thats great. I wonder whats the issue with other users. It should not cost you anything but do let me know if it all.

I have tried jaxtr but i have a problem. 1st time when i use it, my phone rings and then they connect me to other part. 2nd time when i tried, they dont connect my phone, i just get an local number to call and then they route the call. Why cant i call like the 1st time?
Jaxtr cant afford to provide this service for free all the time. So all calls in future need you to call a local number, that will cost you some local charges depending upon your plan

this was just an example. Don't use it.
Let me explain u again. Say for example you want to call Me. I am vinay.
1) Vinay has to sign-up for Jaxtr
2) Vinay will add his number to Jaxtr
3) Once he is verified his number, his number will be activated to receive calls.
4) Now you will follow http://www.jaxtr.com/vinay. The widget will load to make a call.
Its that simple. dont confuse between example. Again this http://www.jaxtr.com/voipguide is an example.

I signed up for jaxtr thru the website, followed all the steps and got the concept though I haven't tried made any call. A note: I linked my phone nbr and there was a verification email from jaxtr which was not instantly sent (or received), not sure how long, probably more than an hour later.
So, the next day I tried invite myself for a 2nd account, by sending me an invite to my other email account (you can easily do this invite things in the FRIENDS tab on the jaxtr website).
The invite email arrived instantly. There was a link on the invitation email so I could signed up right away for my 2nd account. This time I didn't link any phone nbr, so no verification email.
Now, the interesting part :
The second account has extra feature. Right under the 100 jax notification there is a link that said : Earn more jax. I clicked it. It took me to the FRIENDS tab, but this tab now has a special promotion that said :
Earn 20 jax for each new jaxtr user you sign up
I don't know what caused the difference between my 1st and 2nd account, but I suspect it was because of the invitation thing.
So if you sign up straight from their website, you won't have chances of earning more jax.
Kinda disappointing if it's true, don't you think? Hope I was wrong, though.

Actually Jaxtr is not providing any local number to India based phone number. So if you r calling from US, it gives a local no to call India, but when u r calling from India, it doesn't give any Local no to India, so default no is 000000, so Jaxtr is still trying to support most of the countries by giving local no.
The first time you make a call, jaxtr calls you after you enter your number. The idea is that this initial call delivers the special number to your mobile, which you can use moving forward and you won't even have to start from a Web browser to make a call, but you can do it straight from your phone. For now, we provide local numbers in 30 countries. We're hoping to add 10 more or so within a month or two. However, if you are in one of the 190 countries where we don't have local numbers, you can still receive calls from friends and family abroad. We are testing a promotion for earning jax when users sign up new members. Not everyone is part of this promotion and it is only for specific period of time (I think until May 15).

We have rectified the problem regarding 0-0000. You should not see this.
The general idea still applies though. We only allow the initial call to go through to countries such as India.

i am very disappointed with this jaxtr bcoz i tried 2 do a local call 2 my friend here.1st time i clicked on her link that connect my call 2 voice call......then she approved me and i also approved her but 2nd time when i called in her link that gave 1 message call on this no. and gave me a private no. 2 call....i tried from my phone...that didn't connect her no. and also cost me 1 std cost instead i was doing local call...so i am disapponted.so kindly help me......
You are right. Only the first time Jaxtr lets you connect call for FREE. Next time they give you a local number to connect to and then make calls. Now sometimes this number is not local. When i tried some time back, for india it gave me no number. I will try again tonight and let you know how it works.

My US # gets 100 jax but if some Indian # is calling but but the problem is it gives Mumbai local # to call next time 022.... so he can call me, but that # goes to somebody house couple friends called with their own jaxtr acct in india but same problem... how to resolve this is there a way to delete the special # generated by jaxtr at India so person can hit call me button on internet and we can connect again??? There shud be some way to delete thes special # assigned as it does not work from India.... And its better to call from India than we call from US as we get more JAX point!!!

I am in UAE and heard about jaxtr from a friend in India and have tried opening the site, but its blocked, one of the main reasons being that in UAE the main service provider for internet is same as the telecom operator. can you pls send me a proxy for this site.

Thats the biggest issue with UAE. I am not sure if proxy will actually work coz those who block it also ensure that no proxy will work. However you may try with any USA proxy. Just search on the internet you should get.
The only possible solution for UAE is routing your calls as outside of USA.
How to do it?
You need private VPN network which is hosted outside of UAE but you have access to it from uae, so you connect to that first and then make calls.
This is just my theory but am sure it will work good.
Hi...I'm from Viet Nam and my friend is from Canada. We both registered and have each other in friend list. However, we only can leave voicemail. No call is connected so far, even thought it rings my cell to leave a voicemail for my CAN friend. And it directs my friend to my voicemail as well.

Hey buddy this seems to b a kewl tool.. da only problem is dat from our country (India) First time it works fine.. that is the free call we can talk to the other number thru da mob.. though the clarity is less n its kinda like a voice chat... but its k we don expect the best in free services, the real problem is once u've made a call u get a direct number, unfortunately that is a US number, even though if u try to call that number it wont be connected, thass a sad part i've invited lotsa ma 4nds to join in, they've signed up too... but if at all its jus for a first time call its not worth it, If Jaxtr charges local call charges from the second time its really ok anywayz its kinda saving some money, hope they'l fix it soon :-(

looks cool so signed up for it Yesterday. Talked for a while with the local number later got disconnected . From then on i am getting is jartr is connecting your call when i dial the local number and the phonenumber in india rings as soon as they say hello it gets disconnected. Anything we can do to resolve this issue. I am having vonage in US. Please give me some help

Yesterday i registered with jaxtr and i got connected fine though getting disconnected every 5 minutes to india but today i am just unable to connect thru the same access number. Whle i try to call all i get jaxtr is connecting ur call and i get disconnected. I am using vonage phone line to call jaxtr. please help

I will post these issues in points so you can read and understand easily.
1) We have different cellular companies in Pakistan For example Ufone, Telenor , warid and Mobilink. I have created my jaxtr account with Mobilink first. My mobile company code was +92300 , it worked fine when it comes to call FREE from web(widget). BUT When I made my another account from my TELENOR connection it starts giving me problems. It never called from Widget (First time free call) . without completion of call it gives the Local Access number like 091 , 071 or 022 or any code . (FAIR ENOUGH) When I dial to that person second time from My Telenor account (We both have security shield on and Both are added in friendlists) it rings and says Your number is not there enter your number and press HASH. I dial my local Telenor Sim Number with Country code and it gives me error and after 3 times attempts it disconnects. I wanna know which number I have to ENTER? MY TELENOR NUMBER? or THE number which I have in my jaxtr account ?

We (pakistani) have few more problems with jaxtr , those are about LOCAL NUMBERS, they are not purely local. We have high calling rates if we call from one city to another then calling in USA from Pakistan. Suppose I live in Karachi and our telecom pakistani code is 021 for Karachi(pakistan city) , jaxtr assigns local numbers randomly like it starts from 071, 051(Islamabad code) , we have high rates if i call any isb number from karachi. I am expecting answer from Jaxtr administration about this issue Thanks.
Why can't we get MOBILE CODE local numbers? Like telenor code num is +92345 and we get local number of jaxtr +92345....... ??

Hi there, my problem is the same as latha's. I recently signed up with jaxtr, asked my friend from the US to sign up, and called her and it worked. I made a couple of calls this way ( in the local number that jaxtr gave me) and it was fine. But suddenly since last week, I cannot seem to get connected to my friend- the call goes through, but I get immediately disconnected after maybe about 10 seconds.. its very perplexing , do you know why this could be happening ( I am using jaxtr from New Zealand).

i made an account with uk landline number and tried to call india.it first when through and i toked for an hour really.the second time when i tried to call the same number it generated a number like 1 408 *** ****. idon really know how to use this number to call up the same number i want to.i tried calling this number on my landline, and the jaxtr id as well.it din work.vinay could you tell me how should i use this number? if it is on jaxtr how to go about it?

My 20Euros are gone!!!!
I regesterd(in Germany) and invited my friend from kenya..then as Jaxtr says, I tried to call him for FREE. On weekends I normaly call all Landlines for Free so I was sure the call wont cost me a cent. After talking for 3min, the connection went off, all his jaxtr credits were gone. Then I tried again calling him, went the whole time in Jaxtr-Mailbox. After sometimes I gave up..then this schock..i was charged 20Euros for this..

Are you sure kenya is part of Jaxtr free calling plan? Kenya is one of the worst telecom regulated country. The average rate is about 22-30 cents per minute. However its unbelievable that they charged you 20 euros. Send them email and ask for clarification

Kenya is NOT in that plan, but German. Someone from Jaxtr had told me that if someone calls from Kenya then he will be charged, so its better if I call that person, and so I did. In my opinion, there is lack of enough information regarding the whole JAXTR issue. They(Jaxtr) dont comeout clearly when it comes to who pays what and when and how.
