Nonoh VOIP Billing Update

(For full text with comments please click on the title)

This is a must read post for everyone who had issues with Nonoh billing and charges. After a lot of buzz from VOIP Guide and some negative comments here, finally betamax is listening.

We at VOIP Guide are happy to see that our negative comments have actually shaken up betamax. Laura at Betamax has sent me an email apologising for the screw up at nonoh which resulted into 5 cents charge for each call placed through nonoh. Laura has clarified in the email that there was some issue in the VOIP Billing module which triggered the 5 cents connect charge.

If you haven't read our review of Nonoh VOIP, then please read it first.

I would suggest people who already brought credit at Nonoh to give another try and report if the call connect charges of 5 cents are withdrawn.

I will be in touch with Laura henceforth to report any issues/bugs/billing errors. This will help our readers get more reliable and prompt answers. If you have any specific questions for Betamax or Nonoh, please drop comments.

I will be discussing the following issues on a priority:

1) Download of Nonoh client
2) Nonoh SIP availability- If yes then SIP server settings.
3) Can we use Nonoh as standalong VOIP service- PC to Phone on top of Phone to Phone.

Again, I would like to thank everyone for treating VOIP Guide as preferred destination for FREE VOIP reviews.

Hi Vinay,

I was the person who made complaint regarding nonoh and there calling charges.
I contacted them regarding my free calls because as soon as I bought credit my free calls was terminated. I use Bulgaria Landline to call India and I they charged for both calls but when I complained for free calls to my home number in Bulgaria as Bulgaria is in free call list.
After that my that problem was solved. Some problems like sip server settings, or Client for pc you are already taking into hand.
I want to add another problem when I call to India and if number is busy or no reply, nonoh is charging 5 euro cent as connection fees. This happened till yesterday, today all calls was replied so I don't know status.
I hope that connection fees problem will be solved.

Regards,
Dheeren

Those who have tested Nonoh, please let me know that if I call a India number from a mobile number in USA, will I be charged both ways I mean for call to India and for call to mobile in USA( Nonoh charges for calls to mobiles in USA). Also does anybody has the link to download Nonoh client? As has been reported by the previous post, Justvoip has been gradually increasing the call charges to India. It is really unfair on their part. We should protest to them as a group. From 2 eurocents, the charges have been increased to 3.5 eurocents. IS there any news on the pricing of the VSNL web calling service from USA to India(Trueroots)?

Vinay, Can you help me find these three infos from Laura ?

1)Will they be refunding those extra 5 cents they charged us? (all three times 5 cents was charged on me was when i disconnected the call b4 I picked up the phone (the other person also never picked up). Now i know that if i hit the disconnect button after placing the call the call will be charged 5 cents (this was when calling to an india mobile from an us mobile). In my account it clearly shows those three calls had 0000 secnds of talk time.I can take a screen shot of my account and post it here if u guys want.

2)Will they be installing a jajah style scheduling feature (http://jajah.com/info/services/schedule/) . If betamax can do that along with their lower rate phone calls then it will be a jajah killer for sure. (they already have a scheduling feature to send sms's in their client. so i dont think it will be hard for them to improvise and make a scheduled calling feature also.

3) Does customer service exist for nonoh/betamax? coz they never replied to any of my mails.

Dear Vinay,
Thanks you for the update. I tried Nonoh yesterday and there is no connection fee now. Thank you.

Then I have a question.
As I said earlier, I am calling from Japan Landline to India. Nonoh is charging only 2Cents. But my concern is whether my landline provider in Japan charges any amount. I can't confirm this with the landline service provider, just because there is no English Speaking customer support. Also I got the phone bill last week only. So the only option I have is to wait for the next bill. But I am afraid, if the landline provider charges my bill will go high as I am using the phone heavily.

Can you please confirm this.
Thank you....

Vinay

Thank you for updating billing issue of Nonoh. Many guys depend on your blog to find cheap and reliable service to call India. What I think is before posting in your blog please do check reliability of service provider as your word is considered final by many of us.
In case of Nonah, there are persistent problems, half the time website is not reachable, the connection charges are more than actual calling rates. No customers service contact on main page, even no reply from CS after emailing. So its like fly by night operator without any reliability. So please do check before posting and don't just put it in your blog. Thank you for your service to all NRI community.

Thanks to your blog ... I found a good reliable service for calling India.

I would give 5 out of 5 stars to nonoh for their call quality to India from US. Just started using it since Friday, August 24th 2007. I have not tried other countries.

They have scope to improve their website ... increasing the login session time from 10 minutes to atleast an hour.

Great find Vinay.

Hello, dear Vinay!

Thank you for updates about nohoh. Do you now about the same troubles with billing to the 12Voip.com? Yesterday I made account (its name was "eunw") with using 12voip client. I made a payment (10 euros by Ukash). Now I can see 9.50 euros as my credit, but I did not receive FREE DAYS (“you free days has expiredж normal rites will be applied”). I tried to chose “Buy free days” at menu in my personal account page, but it was not possible. I wrote to 12Voip many times, but I did not receive the answer.

hi vinay,

yesterday i registered myself as a nonoh user and was happy to call to india at such a lower price...but alas! today when i wanted to call to india it says call disconnected due to unknown error..how do i solve this? i experienced the same with just voip and 12voip...think betamax doesnt like me)):..can u help me to find an alternative ?
thank you.

hi vinay
what does nonoh mean when they say
"You will be charged for calls to both sides"
plz help

Vinay said...

Both connections are charges based on countries listed under free or paid list.

If you call from singapore to india, only india side will be charged since singapore is a FREE calling country according to Nonoh.

However if you call from any other country not listed under FREE, you will be charged for that callback.

Betamax is opening up new companies evey now and then with attractive rates and then increasing the rates without any notification. I just noticed that the nonoh website states that the rate to India is 2.5 Euro cents per minute which was 2 Euro cents until yesterday.

Just wasch out !! nonoh is a cheater
I put 10 euros on my nonoh acc
I made 2 calls worth 2 euros and after that I cant call anymore

Now I have 8 euros in my account but they say due to unkown error phone call was ended

The same happened to three other friends of mine from now on nonoh and all betamax providers are dead for me I am going to sue them since I live in Germany

Anonymous said...

NO TO NONOH!!

BE AWARE OF NONOH!

They are prof. cheaters!

What happens with them is, you
put the cash on your betamax acc.

Like nonoh, justvoip , 12voip etc..

Once you have used 1-2 euros, they will block you from calling!

So you cant call and they dont have
a service support.

They dont even have a real office.
I went there to cologne.

They are cheaters!!!

Risk on your own!

thanks

I am using Nonoh everyday & it is working superb. I still have one question though. Nodoubt, I am using like 35 Euro per month to call india.
is their any way to call india just for one minute or 2 to check if the person at the other end is available.

Nonoh does provide free calling to all destination around the world for 1 minute but just for trial[it should work for 4-5 times]. Is their any HACK available to call From NONOH for free just for a minute?

Thanks

I thought the problem with Nonoh was solved? As if they will NOT charge 5 ct per call? But they still DO! I tried by phoning from the Netherlands to Croatia, both landlines. Advertisement says: "for free", really says: do not believe it.

i dont recommend to anyone this nonoh or anything....

Hey ppl,
I have been reading a lot of greivences against nonoh. I have been using it now since 3 months now. I have two accounts which work perfectly fine. Never had any problems like above when nonoh says its free I have always got free calls. They even offer free sms to US and UK mobiles which is a great addon. With the kind of rates offered by them I am happy if one or two calls are messed up. What do you expect at such a low cost. Use iconnecthere, skype or other stuff if you really want those after support and dont mind paying almost four times the price.

Meindert said...

To me it's not the question wether Nonoh or Webcalldirect or whatever "service" of Betamax is cheap or not but most important: they are not honest.Nonoh offeres free phone calls to Croatia, USA and Netherland (landlines) but I pay for all three of them. Think about the million of people they are cheating... One hundred times one cent makes a lot of money in a day... That's why they can be cheap. And cheap is their behaviour.

hi
I am using Nonoh since one month & it is working great. I am using like 20 Euros per month from Holland to call pakistan.

i just noticed one disadvantage about nonoh, they changed rate's without any notification. last week was 1 cent to pak mobile and now 1.5 but stil cheaper. i have also used lowratevoip en voipcheap naver have a probleem.

Hi Vinay thanks for your blog, now it seems that have increased the call rate from US to India twice in row, it used to be 2 cents, they changed it to 2.5 cents and now it is 3 cents that too euro. which comes out to be 4 cents in US. then it will not work out any updates ?

Why does Nonoh advertise in cents and then deduct charges in Eurocents? Considering the exchange rate and that I am not charged in 1Euros to 1 dollar equivalent it seems that is is just outright extortion.
They should be clear that it is in Eurocents not just cents as this will be lure users in the US. Users in US are really better off buying calling cards and not falling for this intentionally vague advertisement designed to mislead. It is really not a terrible deal I will just like to know upfront so I can decide to buy or not. I can't find anywhere on the nonoh site that I can contact them to voice my discontent.

I in Cameroon Africa and tried calling with my mobile a landline in Britain that is supposed to be free on NONOH and was charged 30 ct. Tried to call Nigeria which is supposed to be .o60ct was charged 30ct or more.
Please advice me on what to do as they don't seem to have a contact. Are there other cheap or cheaper Voip services for Nigeria from Cameroon?

I'm in the same boat with many .
Nonoh promised free calls for Canada and Russia ( they both in free destination )but when I called to Russia it was charged every time!!!
I haven't used 300 free minutes per 7 days, but my money is gone.
I emailed them but no answer.
What I must do, any suggetion

To Anonymous who was complaining about cents and Eurocents. First off, there is no such thing as a Eurocent, it is also called a cent in Europe. As you are most likely not aware, there are many countries that use the cent denomination in their currency.

But apart from this, it is very clear on their website that you are being charged in Euros. Do you recognize the euro symbol? This is shown in the available balance. At the top of the rates table it is even easier to see, it states EUR/min. Don't know what your problem is!!

My question is why do you need to download and run some exe file to verify yourself before making a payment! Very strange.

I really feel nonoh is cheating by hiding their clauses and terms ... they should mention very clearly that they have no PC-to-Phone option .. the lowest and best rate for india is 12voip .. for the same amt. of money i.e. 10 euros I got 70 minutes in nonh (from switerland) and 285 mintues in 12voip ...

For those friends who has problems at the time to pay the 10 Euros, try to use the Moneybookers option to pay, because Moneybookers answer the questions and fix the problems.
I am using Nonoh.net and works very, very fine, appears that the bad comments could be comming from the competence agents to discredit Nonoh.net or maybe previous months Nonoh.net was bad but they bettered their service after critics, only that Nonoh.net does not accomplish with the free 300 minutes per week, gives only 100 or 150 but the low prices are good for me inclusive to call frequently from my city to my own city (locally) using Nonoh.net .

Anonymous said...

hi ,
iam your regular user , unfortunately this system is charging me for those call that are free like when i called usa or canada they charged me 1 cent and even when i called within newzealand they charged me too. one more thing your rates chart shows that for pakistan it is 0.02 cents nz $ /min but u guys r charging me 1.5 cents /min that is not fair.

Hi Vinay

I am a new user to nonoh.net (signed up a week ago) & am experiencing similar problems to what you mention. I feel i was overcharged for a call i made a few days ago (or at the least would like some clarification on why the rate actually charged was more than double the advertised rates to Australia) & cannot get through either on customer services (nonoh webpage) which displays a http 500 'internal server error' or via betamax either by phone (indefinitely on hold) or email (not answering).
Coudl you be so kind & provide Lauras email or phone number so that i can try to get some clarification on this charge ??

Thankyou
John

Hi from few days i was unable to recharge my account in nonoh.when i am going to recharge the account there are no credit or master card options. it is showing some via bank transfer system. earlier i recharged using my credit card bt right nw i couldn't.Please help..

Nick said...

Nonoh have consistently charged us for 'free calls'. Have e-mail them several times, they issue a ticket form a no reply e-mail address that says
"we have received your report. Thank you for contacting Customer Services. We will endeavour to reply as soon as possible should a customised answer be necessary."

Never hear from them again. I can only assume that their billing policy is deliberate. Use with caution.
