We know VOIP Guide users love mediaringtalk and the free calls offers they have been running for over 8 months now. Their offer is extended till november end. Now you have every reason to use Mediaringtalk with your favorite SIP client/ SIP phone.
MediaringTalk by default doesnt give you any SIP settings so we were stuck with using their SIP softphone. Mediaringtalk offers free calls to USA, Canada, Taiwan, china and many other countries. However, those who like to use SIP Phones to make free calls. We got some good news for you.
VOIP Guide's regular reader, Pavan Deshmukh has sent in a great Tip to use Mediaringtalk on any SIP Phone or SIP client.
The procedure to set up the ATA or soft phone for is :
1. Domain/ Realm: mediaringtalk.com
2. Sip Proxy: sip1.mediaringtalk.com:5080
3. Outbound proxy : sip2.mediaringtalk.com:5080
For dialing use 1XXXXXXXXXX for US and so on for UK / Australia and other countries that are free ( i.e country code and number).
Pavan also reported (we also noticed) that sometimes it takes 2 -3 atempts to connect. It gives SIP connection errors. However as long as its FREE and it works, I am sure we are happy to redial :-)
MediaringTalk is indeed a great free VOIP service and now VOIP Guide has made it SIP compatible. So Enjoy making free calls using your favorite SIP Client or SIP Phone.

can i use this sip details wit fring n get the free calls offered by mediaring talk from my mobile?
I am from Canada and I tried to use this program today and had no luck using MediaRing or using it with a SIP Phone .. wouldnt connect .. does it work for ppl living in Canada? Reply to me at s1urpee@hotmail.com

Anyone successfully use MediaRing on an Xten softphone?
I configured X-Pro with my MediaRing SIP credentials.
When I dial out, the other party's phone rings, but I don't hear anything.
I have other SIP accounts working fine, so it's probably not a firewall issue on my end.
What is a good Phone program to use with this to input the settings with Windows Vista. That i could get this too work.
Hi, i got this to work with Express Talk for Windows but I can call people just fine .. but I cannot hear them and they cannot hear me .. somethings wrong there .. but i can call everyone .. i checked ppl i knew .. and they can recieve my calls but i cannot hear them and they cannot hear me .. any help on this one???

I am in Canada too and it WORKS!
I use SPA2102 (hacked SunRocket) and works great.
Please notice that I also set "NAT keep alive" enabled. :)

I have Express Talk Business Edition and set this up so many ways witht this program and the same thing happens to me .. I dont hear anyone .. so i called myself too see and same thing .. I cant hear anyone and they cannot hear me? Any idea on this ? some help please
I got it setup on eyebeam. But the problem is that whenever I dial a number it rings at other end and as soon as the other party picks up the call it get disconnected with an error "Media Negotiation Failed".
Looks to me this dont work with any Software type programs .. just with VOIP hardware only
i am in germany, and 2 days back i used this mediaringtalk SIP setting with eyeBeam, its working fine. I try to call US, sound quality was ok and was able to talk.
what is the userid and password for the setting?
Hey Yogesh .. care to enlighten us with how you where able to get this to work fine with Eyebeam such as the settings you entered and in which part of the program they go. Since nobody else seems to be able to get it work right with any Software type programs.

I use following setting on my eyebeam Softphone. if it works with eyeBeam, i think then it should work for every softphone.
User name : (mediaringtalk Id)
Password : ( your password)
Authorization user name: (mediaringtalk id)
Domain : sip1.mediaringtalk.com
Can u somehow fing out sip settings of earthcaller.com because it also uses sip only to make its calls
it seams too me that mediaringtalk is only using G.723 codec, so if the device (software or hardware) have that codec it is working & in another case it is not working.
I try to call with X-Lite v1.02 (with G.723 codec) and everything is working OK.
but with my hardware (fritzbox) it doesn't work.
fritzbox have g.729, but g.723 doesn't.
maybe I am wrong, but I am pretty sure that that is the catch.
