Betamax has announces yet another VOIP outfit called Voipraider, which offers free calls to many destinations but the biggest surprise is free calls to south africa.
South Africa is typically never given away as free calls destinations since the termination costs are high. Thanks to satphoneguy from Tipsity to share this news.

I guess the real suprise deals are definately, free calls to turkey and free calls to south africa. Remember, like other betamax outfits such as Nonoh, Justvoip, voipcheap etc, voipraider also has policy of Buying credits which entitles you to 120 Freedays of free calls to free destinations only.

It only let me make two calls and then it is prompting me to buy credit.
It doesn't seem that "free" to me.
didnt i already mention that?
"voipraider also has policy of Buying credits which entitles you to 120 Freedays of free calls to free destinations only."
you need to buy credit to use free calls service.
Call rates to India are ultra cheap. Vinay if you could make a review on India calling through this service that would be great
Ummm, dunno if you know this, but you can also get free calls to South Africa on www.12voip.com.
VOIPRAIDER is better because it gives you 120 freedays whereas 12voip only gives you 90
also, check http://backsla.sh/betamax
for all the price comparisons of the betamax services. You will see both 12voip and voipraider are FREE to South Africa
I am gonna have to say no, you didn't say it.
You presented it as "free" which it really isn't.
Maybe I just have a different definition of "free"
As i clearly said, free calls to south africa after buying minimum credit. Please Read the post again.
HI Guys,
NONOH has increased the calling rates to INDIA to 0.5 cents. Now the rates if you call to mobile is 2.5 and landline is 3.0 cents. Is there any other service offering cheaper than these?
Thanks,
Khaja
Khaja, if you are in usa, then check out our Joiphone offer
It would be great if they could have come up with same offer here in Australia as well.
Cheers,
Khaja
vinay, is there any news regarding buying credit through resellers for voipraider ? they are not offering credit through resellers at the moment.

I signed up and paid using this service and it's horrible. It says 120 days but that's a lie it's actually 90 days! Another thing is that it's not free! I'm getting billed every min for calls that are listed as free destinations. I tried contacting them and they won't respond to my emails and what not! I would not recommend anyone using this service.
Thanks for the feedback on voipraider. As we suggested caution while dealing with betamax. We continue to hold the same opinion.
Betamax does not have any customer service. You need to remember before buying credits from them.
South afrca free..are u sure!!
Can you explain that again? Or had someone done it?
can someone explain to me clearly about "free calls to south africa"??
*in order to call a person in one of the free destinations, you have to add this person to your contactlist"
Well I just made a call to my fried in South Africa using VoipRaider. Sorry but can't tell you about the duration cos I just talked with him for 50 seconds :)
Yea, Although I am happy about the rates, this lot at betamax seem like scheisters - I bought credit, configured my asterisk box and the calls are charged! It seems it is only free if you phone via the web dialler thingie. And there are only 90 free days. And they don't answer email. Seems they are eager to take your money, but slow to deliver. Pity
Daniel i suggest you read my latest post on betamax. All calls placed with any other medium than their softphone are charged at normal rates.
Do a quick thing, keep voipraide running on your system and then try making calls, let me know what rate they charge you. they should charge at normal rate thats a hack we thought could help you.
Hey!
I've tried it many many times since my siter's living in Cape Town.I live in Spain and we use a local Spanish number to call her, but this option is not available everywhere.
Instead, you can use the phoe2phone option so you just have to pay 5 cents as the connection fee. Both, 12voip and voipraider give you free calls,BUT you must have the person you're calling to in your contact list and also, sometimes they just give you 2 hours every 7 days for free, so if you use it more, then they charge you with the default rate.
Hope this is helpful.
HASTA LA VISTA!
ive used a few programs and voipraider looks the same they say you can call for free but when i am calling to a free destination it works at first but then it will tell me its not free anymore whats the deal?
hi vinay
i wann confiuger my linksys device
can tell me how to configer voiprider
account if i am try to configer i can do it perfect and i got diler ton but i can't make call and i am try to
voiprider messenger then it's going thru pls help how to confuger this linksys pap2 device
Hi, I've the same problem like patelsandip84. I have 10 USD credit but my SIP devise Lynxsis SPA2100 does not working. It sounds always "busy".
Hey vinay why did u suprise when u saw turkey?? what do u mean by that!! is that impossible or something!
turkey is typical never given away as free calling country
Warning,
On the rates pages voipraider show for Brasil:
Brasil landline Free
Brasil mobile $0.06
But voipraider charge y6ou :
Brasil landline $0.017
Brasil mobile $0,18
Free calls only if you use their softphone. If you use your VOIP adapter (SIP) you will be charged normal rates. But they don't tell you that ... that is why they want you to buy credits in order to make free calls, your credits will be used to pay the free calls !!!
Be careful if you are going to use it by VOIP adapter (SIP) because they charge normal rates.
I've used lowratevoip which costs only $0.17c to South Africa and have recently been using voipraider.
Both have worked fine for me and I spoke for over a hour to South Africa landline today for free.
I did have a quality problem over the Christmas time which can be expected
I am thinking of buying credits from voipraider, any idea if they are free for the destinations(free) with SIP or there is a trick in it. As I cannot find SIP instruction on there site ?
Any recommendations (at the moment I am using voipbuster with purchased credits and they are really free but the rates for pther countries are higher and that is why I am tempted to voipraider. ?
it seems u cannot use voipraider with fring or any other sip adapter-any ideasa of getting around this problem
marc
They did charge my money when I used SIP at normal rate. Gave them $10 for some experience, I won't pay again. You have no way to contact them for support.
Don't waste your time on voipraider. It's cheater.
> I cannot find SIP instruction on there site ?
http://www.voipraider.com/en/sipp.html
It sounds like ATA support broke in early December 2007, but may have started working again some time in January. But you don't get the "superdeal rates" when calling through an ATA.
If you guys would read the TOS and all info on their site properly, you'll see that none of you were cheated or ripped off.
It is crap that they have no support apparently though.
anonymous.
VOIPRaider only allows 1 minute calls to "free destinations"? Is this correct?
I have tried within Australia and to UK - same thing it cuts off and prompts to buy credit.
I have read all the fine print and no where does it say that the "free" calls to the listed destinations are restricted to 1 minute. Answer please.
I have problem Buying Credit with ViopRaider. It is trying to send SMS message with confirmation email but message was never received. I think my cell phone provider is limiting me from sending/receiving messages from USA. Any ideas on how activate my service with them? They customer service is out of reach. Thanks a lot.
hi i have one question, when i buy the credit why it is always charged as dollars and not as euros, because when i was using the justvoip, the amount credited from my account was always in euros and it was very clear for me that how much i am paying for everytime when i buy the credit as i reside in Germany, but now i am using voipraider, i happy with the services except this problem. Could anyone help me in this regard
I bought Voip Raider credit. And WTF... it says free days for 90 days only. And then it started charging for sms also even though i was in free days. Dont buy credit for this. Its a crook company.
VERY VERY FRAUD COMPANY............ I have still 7 $ and 38 days remaining but can not allow to call and call ended due to error (error code 8 or 32), please tell me how to solve the problem, how can I claim it.... please advise..
I purchased a credit of $10 from Voipraider, which was supposed to give me 90 days of free calling to countries marked as 'free countries', however I got charged after the second call I made that week. They do have a fair usage policy which states that you are not allowed to exceed 300 minutes of free calls, however, I haven't even talked for 90 minutes alltogether when they started deducted money.
I tried in vain to contact them...they don't list any contact number or e-mail address and simply ignored all of the complaints which I logged via there online system. I should have known that a company that doesn't list a telephone number could not be trusted!, but now I can only warn others! BEWARE!!
Dear Vinay
I have been using voipraider and then justvoip for two months. But suddenly they blocked my calls and I lost my money. At first I have been using the softphone and then phone to phone. Please advise me! I had changed my credit card number as at first I had to use my friend's.
Can someone post Asterisk configuration for VOIPRAIDER? THANKS
Dear Vinay,
I am living right now in Dubai..
I want to buy credit but am unable to do using my credit card.
Plz help me find atleast a reseller through whom i would buy the credit.
AM currently recharging my justvoip using reseelrs based in dubai.
Plz help me..
Thanks,
Maria
I live in the U.S. I bought this services a month ego. I just had used this services for a month. Company started charge regular and they cancel my free call because of FUP(Fair use policy ). But they did not explain what I did. I did not anything and I could not reach the cumtomer services. I still have 62 days free call to landing phone but it does not matter that. I really do not like this kind of business. I am not suggest it for anyone.
i made over a amount of money to VoipRaider. I did it by telephonebanking and they received it immediately.
Now after two months i still dont have the amount on my account.
Is it lost? just like that? I did everything they asked from me. All the information needed was there.
Then the freedays are just a trick.I could NEVER use the freedays and yes, i payed!
I will not use it again and will never recomment it to my friends.
I lost my money and cant even contact them. There is no good working email adress and phonenumbers are not on the page.
Voipraider is not as good as it seems and im really disappointed
Well Mr. Vinay, I am in Cameroun and want to call India, pls let me know how to use it and how much it'll be charged. I would prefer to have these details on my email id, which is shekhu_bos@yahoo.com Thanks,
Shekhar.
I have been using Voipraider to call South Africa for more than 6 months. Calls to landlines are 'free' so long if you are within the free period & within the so called 'fair use.'The Freedays are 90 & not 120 days. HOWEVER, I HAVE A PROBLEM NOW TO BUY CALL CREDIT. IT USED TO ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS LIKE MASTER & VISA, BUT NOT ANYMORE NOW. WHAT IS HAPPENING? CAN ANYONE HELP? THANKS. From: Stanley
Don't use VoipRaider, they're switching you to normal rates by saying that you didn't obey the FUP ( Fair use policy) but I didn't understand how I didn't use fairly!! This is just stupid and they even don't have support line. No anwers to contact forms.. Don't use VoipRaider, it's just too bad, they steal your money.
It's bullshit!!! Voipraider steals your money.... They said FREE call and it's lie!!!
Try www.tuitalk.com It's completely free of charge for international and domestic calls.
South Africa is no longer list as free destination
I bought minimum call rates and still have about 60 days to go. The funny thing is I cant make free landline calls to South Africa. SA is stated as free call(landline) destination
señores viopraider...hace ya mas d eunas semana que estoy sin el servicio de llamadas aunque tengo 9 dolares en mi cuenta...no puedo llamar a ningun lado ...hace dias que les escribi y aun no tengo respuestas de ustedes.

Voipraider works fine with me, they deliver what they promise, but ... - now the credit-card payment option has disappeared ! - I asked their helpdesk (through a webform on the voipraider-site) if I can pay by credit-card, and they replied to me within 24 hours:
"Sorry, it's not possible to use the payment method you prefer anymore. Please use a different payment method.
Kind regards,
Customer Service"
So, that's it - and now I'm trying to find another voip-service (NOT a Betamax-product !) with a similar service. Anything you people can reccomend ?
Albert
Hi there!
Thanks for the information.
I was not able to make purchase payment( for top-up) by using my usual credit card(Master Card) when I was using my South African cell number (country of domicile) as a form of verification of the payment. It appears that this VOIP provider has apparently required its users to purchase from resellers, Western Union,... but not the internationally accepted cards.
However, after I tried to change the country of docimile and use another cell phone from another country, I was surprised that payment could be made by the usual internationally accepted credit cards like Visa & Master. It appears that the type of payment is country specific and I reckon, it is a form of collusion or understanding between those resellers.... to force voip users to use their service. This is my experience.
I have no adverse comment on this voip provider. It is providing the required voice service. The downside could be the difficulty to top-up credit which could be quite disasterous in trerm of its reputation if the provider chooses to accept cards based on the country domicile of the users. This is supposed to be web-based transactions, why make life difficult for users who are willing to pay.
I believe some VOIP providers are maximising their margin by not providing the neccessary aftersales service. They could possibly 'do away' with the aftersale service if they could at all times ensure that the service is at its top form. But, they need to be proactive.
Regards,
Stanley

Hi Stanely,
I am from South Africa, so what do you pay per min to SA land line and mobile? Have just dumped SlingShot.
