Ad-Based VOIP Solutions are still being tested out by VOIP Providers as viable option to provider free international calls. Pudding Media tried to do the same and actually raised some capital recently.
However, there are more VOIP solution Providers trying to grab the market share. Plumble is one of those VOIP Solution providers who believe that free international calls can be provided in lieu of advertisements. I don't know how successful Pudding Media is with their audio advertisements Free Calling Servics Model, but it sure isnt too easy. Especially the biggest challenge is getting enough advertisers on your VOIP Platform.
Moving On, Plumble is currently offering Free international Calls to USA and Canada. Hang on, If you go to Plumble, you would be disappointed since its currently in Private Alpha. Then think again, You are now on VOIP Guide, you must have special priviledges :-)
There is a secret way to access Plumble VOIP system. Lets see how to do it.
1) Dial 818-742-0110 (USA Number)
2) Listen to a couple short Ads and then make your call for FREE.
3) You can only call USA and Canada (We believe this includes landline + Mobile)
Plumble promises that their next beta release will enable calling to more international destinations. We hope this includes Asia mainly India and Pakistan :-)
We wish Plumble all the very best, coz Free International Calls are slowing becoming the thing of the past with more and more companies realising that this market can close down their business sooner or later. The only way perhaps is to make money through monetizing your VOIP Traffic.
If anyone knows how Pudding VOIP is doing, do let us know. It would be interesting to keep a watch on this space as we predict more companies will adopt this model sooner or later. Afterall, you can live off VC's money for long. LOL.

there are plenty of services that offer free call to US/Canada
tell me why should i dial a US regular access number (not toll-free) just for redirecting it to anotgher US number (after listening to ads)??
This service could be good when they open it internationally
I don't get it, you call a USA access number (818- Los Angeles) and you can call any number in the USA or Canada for Free?
You are already paying for the call to make a free call (most of the globe is outside the 818 area code).
Can you make calls from your PC or the internet?
why do these type of services always require a sign up? they are perfect to be set up for anonymous usage. since there are no charges. on the other hand many people are very skeptical to give any company involved in marketing or advertising there personal info for fear they may start receiving telemarketing calls or email spam.
Calls are limited to 5 mins. according to their website.
Pray, tell me, why on earth would I wanna dial long distance to the 818 number (and, if I had a service to call that number free in the first place, why would I want Plumble?) and THEN, waste my time listening to ads, after which I will get connected, if I could do this painlessly using Jaduka's fabulous Earthcaller without jumping any hoops? Moreover, calling within USA and Canada is no longer a service I would pay for as I can do it free with numerous providers.
i do not get it. why would i call a USA number to call a USA number? is this a service for the absolutely idiotic?
please anyone tell me how to call US for free
I can not see this being useful for "free" calls... but depending on how the CID and ANI data is passed along I could see a benifit in calling people who block *67 from getting your number when calling them... this is why I have a diverter connected in my house when I don't want people getting my cell number off of CID...
