Qttel.com offers Unlimited free VOIP calls

We are already in 2009 and expecting that more and more VOIP Providers join the "free VOIP" revolution and offers unlimited free international calls around the world.

Today we take a look at Qttel, a simple Phone to Phone based VOIP Service which promises to give unlimited free voip calls to over 50 countries. Thanks to comment on our VOIP Provider of the Year 2008, thats where we discovered about this service, which seem to have changed the name recently. I remember using this service but a non-free version of it.

You must enter your number in international format.

We have embedded their softphone into this post, you can start making calls right now. Use the following Qttel widget to make free calls.

QtTel is however a browser based VOIP service. It askes you to enter your phone number and your party's number and then Call. Qttel will first call you and then call the destination number. The biggest limitation of this service is it only works for 5 countries, Australia (FIX only),Canada (FIX & GSM!),UK (FIX only),Holland (FIX only),USA (FIX & GSM!). That means only people from this country can make calls. Of course if you have a incoming phone number from any of these country you should be able to receive calls from Qttel and of course make free voip calls.

Please note all calls are limited to 5 minutes but it seems you may dial the same number and over and over. Please let us know your feedback on Qttel.

Hi,
The explanation you have given above was not clear. Will you please explain more clearly how, for example, a person staying in Russia can make a free call to India as your heading says: “Free calls world wide “? If one can't make a free call in the above case, don't you think that your advertisement- caption “free calls world wide " is unethical and misleading?

Is this a joke? Calls restricted to 5 minutes and 5 countries! We already have enough carriers giving us free calls **longer than** 5 minutes from and to all these countries. So, if they think they are being generous, I believe you should let them know that it is not a good deal - not even close. People will ignore this service in droves! Unless the call is at least 15 minutes long, nobody will pay attention to this service.

lol. Its my duty to blog about every VOIP service i find. For some its beneficial and some find it was a poor service. Everyone has a opinion and thanks for registering yours. It counts for the other people who read this post.

I always encourage criticism coz it only makes someone better :-)

Hey guys, did you check out Reliance iCall ,the latest VoIP service from Reliance? All I had to do was to register on their website http://www.relianceicall.com/ and then I started calling friends living as far apart as US and Africa. To my surprise, the voice quality was amazing and we guys had a virtual blast. I heard that this service is available free upto the 15th of Jan so I better start hooking up fast with long lost friends!

this service was published here following a comment in a previous post.
That comment compared this service to Poketalk, which won this blog contest, unjustly according to
the comment author (who is actually me :)

Poketalk also allow calls frow FEW countries to many destinations - exactly like this Qttel does

But unlike Qttel, poketalk requires registration & force you to view ads for 60 seconds or so before a call is connected. Poketalk allow 50 calls per month (less than 2 per day) and each call for 10 minutes

Qttel doesn't require registration, doesn't show any ads & give you unlimited number of 5 minutes calls to about same destinations like Poketalk

I think it would not be clever to use Poketalk, because they are extremely stingy and we shouldn't help & encourage them act this way - while shooting owr own leg

Voip users are inteligent and understand that If they want us to view those ads, they should allow us calling to more-expensive-mobile-destinations as well (as Ringplus succesfully do)

If they keep offering those cheapest junk destinations, we should make these cheap calls through other widely available ad-free services... but not use them.

(Needless to say Qttel was just a random example)

At this point I must remind you that Poketalk also disrespected users and rejected negative comments from their blog. they also ignored many users questions on email (after they 'warmly' invited them to send them..) .
They never appoligize for this unacceptable behavior

hi everybody.
When you get the (annoying) message "pls come back in 20 minutes" don't get excited.

It's just their default error message. it doesn't really mean u need to wait 20 minutes lol

It means either you called from/to non-supported destination (see list) or you had a syntax error.

It might also occur while requesting initiating abnormally excess number of calls requests swquently (one before the other ends)

well, guess nothing is really free.

Does this mean that one from those countries can only use this service or from other countries(say Nepal) can also use it? Plz tell.

But I did not see Inida in that list of 50 destinations. Is it free still ?

Reliance Global Call is the best one around. I have been using it for one year now and I get good voice quality, fast connections, and virtually zero call drops. I learnt that they slashed their effective calling rates to India this festive season to about 3.5 cents/min and are also giving away an unbelievable 2300 mins free talktime to all their customers. Makes sense to go for it.
