Localphone reduces cheap international call rates for many destinations

Localphone, winner of cheap international call provider of the year 2008 at VOIP guide has once again slashed calling rates for many destinations including India, Pakistan,Bangladesh.

As you might have noticed, Lot of large telecom/VOIP Providers are slowly moving towards a standard 1 cent per minute rates for India. Pakistan is still hovering around 6=9 cents per minute. Although betamax services like actionvoip, smartvoip and jumblo offers one the most cheapest calling rates to most asian countries, they are not reliable when it comes to your money.

VOIP Providers like Localphone are focused on providing quality service. If you still don't know yet, I personally use only localphone to make all my international calls. VOIP Guide was instrumental in making Localphone service better in some way or the other. All comments on this blog are read by localphone staff and localphone has always responded with new features and offers.

Not only they offer local access numbers in various countries, they offer a great VOIP service which you can use from anywhere in the world. You can simply download their Localphone VOIP softphone or configure localphone SIP settings on X-lite or your voip adapter. I will write a separate post detailing how to setup localphone using SIP.

Coming back to the news, localphone has slashes calling rates for the following countries effective from 12:00 GMT (noon) on Monday 13th July. The new calling rates are as follows:

Bangladesh- 3.5¢ /min
India- 2.5¢ /min
Malaysia- 1.4¢ /min
New Zealand - Mobile- 16.0¢ /min
Pakistan - 7.9¢ /min
South Africa - Mobile- 10.9¢ /min
Thailand- 1.0¢ /min

If you still haven't tried localphone, you are simply missing on a great VOIP Provider for making cheap international calls. Go signup for localphone today!

thats nice but now a days localphone should give service like 1.5 to 2 cent because lots of provider with quality service are giving such cheap rate.

hope localphone understand and reduce it rate.

Not very cheap. I am still happy with my NYMGO. No issues with quality. 1.3 cents for a call to mobiles in India is way too cheap as compared to Localphone.

Hope Localphone guys are reading.

yeah nymgo is good, but i cant make calls through it when i am not at the system, so i use nymgo at home and localphone from mobile.

the sip settings given by nymgo are not working, I can make calls but the other party is not able to hear me, configured the sip setting of smartvoip on the same it device it works fine. So I guess the problem is at Nymgo side to use sip settings.

I would love to use Localphone, but we have two accounts in the same house and my account's access number is assigned to a Localphone contact in the other account - which means I cannot make any calls using Localphone. I contacted support, but they only said to de-register the telephone number from the other account as well. But then both a/cs will be forced to use the access number to make any calls, thus defeating the whole purpose of Localphone.

The solution I proposed was to change my access number to something not being used as a contact in the other account. I know it can be done, but they won't do it. I don't mind having to call the access number for making calls from my account, but I do want direct access from the other a/c (which does not belong to me btw, so I can't make any changes).

Thing is I'm staying as a guest and I don't want to trouble my hosts and would like to maintain two separate accounts (one for my hosts and one for myself). All I'm asking for, is whether I can get a different access number. Thats all. Is that too much to ask?

Localphone, I hope you guys are listening, cause I sure love to use your service even though it's costlier, because of the quality. But in these tough economic times, often we must make compromises on quality in order to keep in touch with those who matter to us, which is the reason why I don't use Localphone anymore. However, please grant me a different access number and I will remain a loyal customer and spread your word to a great deal of friends and family staying abroad who use even *costlier* services and haven't heard of you guys. Thanks for listening!

Well, it is nice to know that they have great service, but 2.5 c per minute to India is certainly a thing of the past! I will no longer settle for anything less than 1.6 cents to India. Of all the providers I have used, Coventry, England-based Nymgo have knocked the socks off any other VoIP pretenders out there. Customer service is superb - I get a response to my email within a day. They are friendly, helpful and LISTEN to customers. What's more? Their rates are awesome - their UAE rates are also cheap! Localphone needs to beat Nymgo if they wanna get there.

Hi Vinay,

I use Callwithus and I am happy with their service, both for incoming and outgoing. India calling is $0.020 to $0.024 for the depending on the destination. You can check their rates on the url.

http://www.callwithus.com/showrates

Callwithus allows us to set the max outgoing rate you would allow for outgoing calls and also maximum routes that you may switch if the lowest route is unavailable. (I have kept max outgoing rate at $0.024 and max routes as 4)

I find that most of my India calls are at $0.021.

I dumped betamax after experimenting with callwithus. I have found callwithus to be very reliable.

Cheers,
Priyanka

If you compare customer service, thn NYMGO s good solution. They will respond and attend to your query. But nowadays their SIP Settngs are not working properly. For me also not able to make calls using NYMGO SIP. Mediaringtalk is also a good provider.

I think one of the best india call service is raza.com. They are cheap as well as nice quality. 1 is for mobile anothe is for major city landline. they charge 2.99 service fee , which cause 1.3 cents per minute for a call. Thats still cheap . they are in business for longtime as well constantly providing very good quality.
only trick is if u take a plan of mobile and u call in landline its charge almost 4.9 cents , so make sure u choose the right plan.

I tried registering for localphone but they are billing me in Euros and my card is American VISA.

I am afraid I will be charged an international conversion fee much higher than what I will save with using localphone.

Anybody else faced this issue ?

[deXter] said...

Yes, there will be conversion fees if you're paying in a currency that's not local. I'm not sure though what the fees are, but it should be much cheaper than other providers like Nononh or regular calls.

On that note, does anyone know what the conversion fees are for Visa and Mastercard?

I have been using localphone for about 6 months or so now (after reading the reviews here)

I must say am pretty satisfied. Used it when I was in Paris recently and it still worked like a charm ...

I use Xlite with localphone SIP settings and call quality is very good there as well ...

I have been using Local phone for almost 6 months. Its been a great peace of mind using this service for me. The call quality is exceptionally great. And I can use this service from any phone, i need. I have been using my cell phone to make international calls since then.

However, I expect that Local Phone will add some new features to send international text messages, and to call unregistered phone numbers by direct dialing; its bothering when i have to remember the phone numbers, after i call their service number first.

I've been using Localphone for about 6 months, Firstly using the access numbers but then my dad started to use the service on our landline. This meant I had to get an ATA connected to the router and I've never looked back since. I now have a DID number which Localphone provides free, and yes the Call quality is exceptional. The only other provider which comes close in terms of cost and quality is probably Simplecall

Hi,

I have been using localphone for over a month now, but since the last two days I am not able to call any numbers using localphone. I tried to contact support but haven't heard from them yet. Still waiting for a response. I think they should improve their support quality 3 days response time is quite long. Expecting better service...

Thanks
Neeta

Hello, Neeta.

Could you let me know your support ticket ID, please? Searching for "Neeta" I can only find one ticket from the last few days but we responded with 24hrs and have had a reply to that from the customer.

We try to respond as soon as possible, usually the same day or next, and you should certainly have heard back within 3 days.

Vinay said...

Neeta, please let localphone know your ticket id.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for replying. Yes you are right, I indeed receive a response from customer support and my ticket Id is FAK-998542. You can check out the details for this ticket and see that its still open. Its been 10 days since I have been able to make any calls using my localphone account and from past few days there have been no updates from support as well.
I have tried a few things myself, I asked a friend of mine to add the numbers from my account and he was able to make the calls. Also I tried adding another number other than mine to my account and the same problem persisted. So I think there is some problem with my account itself.
I really loved localphone service while it was working and would hate to switch to something else. It would be really helpful if you could expedite this and help resolve this asap.

Thanks
Neeta

the prices seem ok, at first glance, Though the support seems skittish on what to expect.
I also have not received any reply's since my last email asking the following question.

Ok

I will be visiting a home in Chile . It is a land line phone, the closest access number is local for me to call.
I have a land line phone in the usa , It has the feature of call forwarding.

Here is what I want to do.

I my land line phone number will forward calls to the local phone number in Chile.

I want to forward the calls to the phone number in Chile.

I also want to call the usa if needed from Chile - When I set me as being in Chile, then edit contacts

Your Contacts add contact | print contacts
Speed Dial Direct Dial Contact Details Rate Actions
Calls are rounded up to the nearest minute. Rates are shown in US cents per minute.
00 +56 2xxxxx95 Business in USA +1 94xxxxxxx5 0.9¢ per min Edit

When I set my location as being in Chile, calling USA, the cost came up as .9cents a minute. The cost to call Chile is 2.5cents a minute.
Is it correct that it is a lot cheaper to call from Chile to the usa, than the reverse?
