Most VOIP consumers look for unlimited long distance deals while choosing a VOIP Phone Service. Vonage probably realised this a little late but better late than never. Vonage World Plan will let you make unlimited international calls to over 60 countries including India and many asian/european countries. Before you jump over Vonage, Read our Vonage World Plan Review first before you signup for Vonage.
Vonage is one of america's oldest VOIP Provider and one of early VOIP Providers in the world. VOIP Phone Service or Home Phone Service was synonymous with Vonage. Things changed, Bunch of VOIP providers blasted into the market overstepping vonage on their way up. With bunch of lawsuits to protect and costs increasing Vonage never looked like a serious competitor in last year or so. Then the yearly earnings surprised everyone.
It seems Vonage now wants their own playing field in the VOIP home phone service market and they are all ready grab from other small or large VOIP players by launching a "All you can eat" Vonage World Plan, Hell yeah, Unlimited calls to 60 countries including India (includes mmobile), Malaysia, Kenya and many more. All this under the Vonage World Plan for only $25 per month. Please note it also comes with unlimited USA and Puerto Rico Calls.
Vonage World plan comes with all the basic VOIP home phone service features such as Phone number porting, Voicemail, Caller ID, Call Waiting,Anonymous Call Block and many more.
Before you jump to Signup, You must know the following requirements for Vonage World Plan:
1)You must have a high-speed Internet connection (cable or DSL)
2)You need a U.S. or Puerto Rico shipping address (no P.O Box)
Vonage offers 30 day money back guarantee.
OK, So does VOIP Guide recommend signing up for Vonage World Plan?
Hang on, Many other bloggers would never tell you this but Vonage World Plan comes with unlimited International Minutes. Now Unlimited to what extent?
We did further research and found out that, Vonage considers more than 5,000 minutes per line per month for unlimited residential calling and more than 10,000 minutes per line per month for unlimited small business calling is not to be considered normal use. That means the moment you run over 5000 minutes (Vonage World Plan is residential plan), Vonage will cut you off.
Lets do some calculations for calling India. You pay $25 a month and you will get 5000 minutes per month of calling. $25/5000 minutes means 0.5 cents per minutes which is really cheap.
we advice you to signup for Vonage however you must note that you will be engaged into their yearly contracts and they have the right to drop countries from this plan at any stage during your contract.

I using the adapter outside USA?
Can I using the adapter outside USA?
Hi ,
i am regular visitor of u r blog and i am using bextmax service from last 3 years from voipcheap, lowratevoip, justvoip, nonoh ,smartvoip, jumbl, we never face any problem and it was good experince till today but now a days for new user account and some old user account that credit card option not showing it showing only reseller or western union option
u have any idea to come out of this problem
thanks in advance
waiting for urgent help
Thanks for letting us know, but I don't agree completely with your advice, especially with caveats like "yearly contracts" and "dropping countries at any stage". To get 0.5 cent rate, you would have to make calls for 5000 minutes. Anyone making that amount of calls is probably spending hours every day, and I would perhaps explore something like skype-skype free calls.
I would have thought the better advice would be to continue using your regular/cheaper VoIP provider and watching the bills. The moment you start hitting the $25 mark on a regular basis, you know it is time to signup to Vonage. But, I guess, by that time, there would be some serious competitors. That is why a yearly contract, IMHO, is risky, more so if they drop India at any time!!!
Thanks for your extremely informative and helpful blogging.

They have not mentioned early termination fee on there website!!
Very Sad! Not for UK...???
I asked Vonage customer care if I can terminate the contract for free if a country gets removed from free calling list midway through my contract.
This response is from Vonage customer service: "Termination charges will not be applicable to termination of service due to increases in price or other material changes if your account is in good standing and you call us to terminate within 30 days after posted notice of the change."

Well, i wouldn't start trusting VOIP companies on this. Unless its a part of their formal agreement/TOS, they can reject your claims in future.
Now you can earn free credit on DialSimple.com by just paying some quizzes or solving some puzzles. To earn free credit signup and visit http://www.dialsimple.com/my/useroffers link and choose any offer.
The whole international calling is free. Why would people buy calling cards. No use with calling cards now if the minutes are available as free from vonage.
reliance, airtel, amantel, raza, indiald need shutdown the services to call India. NO USE...
Thats a great deal from Vonage.
What about the vonage adapters sent to India???? Will BSNL/local providers in India make an issue????.
Though India banned Vonage, there are thousands of people using Vonage at home.
I would like to know....it will work in U A E?
I use IndiaLD for India calling - $20 a month. I have Magicjack that I recently extended for 5 years at $60. I bought a Thin Client off eBay for $80 so that I save money on power consumption for Magicjack. So that takes care of one home phone.
I am letting my Family Plan on VerizonWireless expire next month - bought a couple of unlocked phones in India this month(LG Cookie looks hot, sleek and light-weight as a Touch phone! and another Samsung normal phone). Will get into a GoPhone(AT&T) for my son, add a $20 a month for texting for him,. For my wife I plan to put in $100 into a new TMobile account for her valid for a year and that should suffice. I reckon we will save $850 a year off our Verizon family pkan each year!
Going back to home phone with India calling, now that I have a Magic Jack firmly set, the qustion is what do I do to retain my current home phone number and deal with sizable India calling. If I simply disconnect my CableVision home phone, I save another $450 a year. Bringing my annual savings to a total or $1300 a year!
But I still pay $20 a month for IndiaLD and then the problem of retaining my old home phone number remains. One option is pay $200 and get a Ooma phone and continue using IndiaLD. If I spread the cost over 2 years, this option costs me $29 a month. Alternately Vonage costs me $33.50 a month for unlimited India calling.
Can some one advise me if Vonage World Plan covers all of Andhra, TamilNadu and Karnataka? The list of India numbers mentioned seems a little confusing.
Ash, thanks for your comment. Its really cool how you are trying to save money by using more VOIP and less traditional phone systems.
even if you have magicjack, i still feel ooma can supplement it well. Its now only $189 on amazon, Grab it before the price goes up.
Also you can bypass verizon wireless by using Google voice effectively for SMS and Call.
Secondly, for any clarification on vonage shoot them an email or call them. Vonage world plan is so new hardly anyone would give you a concrete answer on this.
Good luck and do let us know how you are able to save money.
====About the euipment====
I just received my Vonage adapter. It took less than ten minutes to get the vonage euipment out of box and set it up. I used it to make local and international calls. Clarity n local calls was better than my AT&T cell. Call on international call was good too.
======About the servie=====
Made three customer service calls and all the time issue was resolved to my satifaction===
===Cons======
Unlimited means 5000 minutes which is hidden in terms of service and country can be dropped from the plan anytime by Vonage.===
I am using vonage since last 2 years. I recently moved to world plan. When I call india the call quality if very very POOR. they can't hear my voice. My voice is totally broken.
I called vonage customer service but they were not able to resolve my problem. I think I have to get rid of vonage world plan.
Hi Vinay,
Sometimes internet also causes problem for voice clarity. In the begining I also faced the same problem, later when they asked me to keep my cordless phone base 5 feet away from the adapter my problem got resolved.
Hope u also get ur problem resolved.
Latha
What about JOIP? The panasonic globaphone with Free phone to phone calling. This looks like a viable option for people who need to call just one number in India.

yeah I kept my phone away from adapter and made changes in Online Vonage account. It is called Bandwidth saver. By default it is Normal sound. I changed it to Highest Quality sound. and everything is working perfect now !! nothing can't beat vonage world!!
I started using Vonage World one month ago. The clarity is the same as the Comcast VOIP that I had in my previous apartment, it's half the price, and includes 60 countries. How can you beat that? OK, I'm not an expert on VOIP. When I moved into my previous apartment with Comcast, I didn't even know that I was using VOIP. All I know is that I used about 1000 minutes during the first month (mostly to Mexico) and my phone bill went down. No more calling cards!
Caveat 1: Don't put a wireless phone anywhere near a wireless internet adapter.
Caveat 2: I have not needed customer service, so I cannot say anything about it. I picked up the Vonage adapter at Bestbuy, plugged it in, and everything just worked.
What kind of phone do you recommend for calling(specifically to India). (philips, uniden, ...)I am looking for something with a better quality and has 1 base phone and 1 extra phone.
i work for vonage customer service / believe me since aug 20, 2009 we've been changing plans to the WORLD PLAN...
vonage unlimited is not really unlimited - its a small print FRUAD! they only allow 2000 minutes. they suspend your account and charge your again for activation charges.
Vonage is not a good and suggestable, it is very very poor voice and when you apply for a connection they will say unlimited and lots of hidden rules they will not talk when you apply nor they will not explain even if you ask. Customer care is stupid and usage management is useless people they do not know how to talk with a customer. Taxes are half of the price you are paying per month. Becareful before you apply a new connection with vonage.
Vonage is not "UNLIMITED." It's 5000 mins a month. I'm not saying its a bad deal but I called Vonage and asked them if there was any limit to the Int'l calling and i will quote what i was told, "Sir, yes you have unlimited plan. You can use it, however, people normally don't use more than approx5000 mins a month, but yes you can use it unlimited" This was a lie. When my services were suspended i made a call to them and was told that my usage is about 30% more than the "normal usage." After hours of angry conversation they finally revealed that the name of the plan is "unlimited" but it is 5000 mins. It is like coloring a house in white and saying "white house on sale." And by the way..they will not send you a notice of suspension. And i bet they will never admit that the plan is 5000 min. VONAGE has no ETHICS. They have a short term business plan. They will fail big time...in no time...!
Dude, you are getting 5000 minutes for 33bux. what else you want?
stop crying like childs. i am using vonage since 8 months now, never got any issue with voice to India, the only thing i noticed is after about 60 minutes call drops. nothing else, voice is great.
ITelFone.com is offering same unlimited worldwide calling (60 countries) for only $9.99/mo for the first 6 months and $19.99 after.
Sounds like similar plan as vonage but for cheap price.
so i have the plan but it seems like they are still charging the calls made to mexico?
so then its not free?
im confused
FRAUD ! USELESS ! CHEATING ! STAY AWAY
I have used vonage mobile for last 3 months on my T mobile blackberry. Worked okay the first month. In the second month I was charged $100 by my cellcarrier for "international calls" that happened due to faiure of vonage software, as confirmed by vongare representative. They said they had informed the customers via email which i never received. This happened again in the third month !! I am being charged a hefty amount by the cell carrier for international calls. since the last event, I have made sure that I hear the vonage tune and see the yellow screen every time I make international calls....but still I am paying on two ends and being ripped off by vonage for providing essentially NO SERVICE !
One of my colleagues also had similar experience. I would strongly advise considering other company, unless you wish to have a "not funny" experience above, and that too repetitively !!
Now vonage has reduced the usage limit to 3000 minutes. this is ridulous. this mean we can use only one and half hours a day and the call rate to India will be 0.8 cents. I was using calling card which was 0.2 cents a minute. if it is advertised as unlimited it should be 24 hours a day (like unlimited weekend mins in mobile). Yes, i read the TOS but it just says more than normal usage. who knows what is the normal usage??? THIS IS REAL FRAUD. if i have some option of complaining about this somewhere i will do that.
Get your Math Right!! It is 1/10th of 8 cents i.e. you are paying 8 cents for every ten minutes.Come on.
Why don't you try the free vonage facebook app?.....
i havent used vonage and was considering it for international calling. all the folks commenting here are such cry babies. I hope I dont have to do business with folks like u. At the end of the day, Vonage isnt a charity. If 3000 or 5000 minutes isnt enough for you, try going to the competition. I hope Vonage comes out with a 1000 minute plan and a separate unlimited plan and charges extra for the truly unlimited plan.
That is just false advertising and they should get sued. They did drop their unlimited service to 3000 min a month. Their TOS can change any time and it does not define how many minutes you can use. The good thing is that you can terminate the service without a penalty. It is still illegal for them to false advertise, they should at least use an * and define their limit on unlimited.
Amantel.com is bumber offer $5 for 1000 minutes is fraud. Please stay away.
I bought product for $5 (if service charge of $2.99 is excluded). Just after using $2 i.e 60% balance still in account, amantel forces for recharge. How much efficient service ? story doesn’t ends here. I tried to call service center assuming it might be error transaction, but it came as a surprise from customer executive that the payment processing is as per their expectation. shocking !!!!!!!!!! where is it written ? answers comes, it is mentioned in terms and condition that there is going to be mandatory recharge for first time. That means, the mandatory minimum cost I have to bear is $5 + $2.99 + $10 + $2.99 = total $21 dollar. The product which had face value of $5 now required me to pay extra cost upto $21.
For all those who want to go with amantel calling card, please note the another trap as they put in their own word “Rounding will be 2 minutes” unlike all other company where rounding is 1 minute.
vonage does not know the meaning of unlimited it seems ....when they limit minutes usuage to 3000 mins then why the hell they have to advertise as unlimited..and that too 3000 mins are not vonage's limited usuage mins they say 95% of customers use within 3000 mins so that they consider that as limited usuage.. it doesnt mean that all customers have to use with in those 3000 mins and what abt the remaining 5% how much they use?. .its not abt the mins they r giving its all abt the advertising they r doing ..stop advertising as unlimited from now... even they dont care abt customers they only give two option if you exceed 3000mins either change to premiun residential plan else cancell the connection they have lot of customers so they dont even care of losing customers ..if this continues they will start losing the customers and after that they will introduce any new plans to attract the cutomers and after getting customers they dont even care to lose them ..fraud people .they dont diplay the used mins in call history cheating people..if any phone company offers 3050 mins for 32.95$ will surely change to that company ..
