Betamax releases Mobile Voip App for Nokia Symbian

Share

In a interesting development, a few betamax services released a new Mobile VOIP app for Nokia Symbian phones. One would wonder why Symbian? Because, Nokia is on Symbian and still dominates the asian markets where most of betamax customers belong to.

If you still don't know, UAE and the middle east is the biggest market for Betamax. Although, its changing rapidly with new providers entering the market, however people continue to use betamax despite of hidden charge and connectivity issues. This is mainly because of the local operators in UAE still working mainly with Betamax which in turn offer the service to end consumer.

UAE still doesn't have a huge iphone or android base, however its changing, so releasing a symbian app really make sense for betamax who started loosing customers to competitive services like Localphone which offers cheap rates and extremely good call quality.

If you are hardcore betamax lover and use a Nokia phone, Go download their App. Its currently available for Poivy, Freecall, Voipbuster and LowrateVoip services.

Honestly, I am not sure how long these apps will continue to work before the local operators figure out a way to block them. However, I heard nimbuzz still works like a charm and gives you a flexibility to switch VOIP providers from your phone.

Do Let us know your feedback on this app.

Well, betamax has a mobile dialer for almost 2 years called mobilevoip, you can use any service username password without putting any sip address or proxy. It supports almost 30 to 40 brands of betamax. Its not limited to symbian, i m using it on my iphone and it works well. About uae i m not sure as people are using nimbuzz, mobilevoip is blocked by uae local authorities already.

This software is very buggy and is not supported by all the phones listed on the website. However, those with a native SIP client can bypass this software and use the SIP settings directly. Although it will not provide you equal functionality it is still better than the software that does not work at all.
